Since launching our Citizen of the Planet (COTP) initiative in 2008, TP has been dedicated to protecting environmental resources and championing a greener lifestyle. Now, with TP Amazônia, TP’s local project in Brazil, we’re expanding those efforts in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, blending environmental preservation with meaningful social impact.
TP Amazônia is an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiative rooted in the Amazon rainforest, designed to bring meaningful change for the planet and for the communities who call it home. This project solidifies our dedication to environmental restoration, economic development, and social equity, all while amplifying diversity and inclusion.
Why the Amazon?
The Amazon accounts for more than half of the planet’s rainforests and produces 20% of the Earth’s oxygen. Protecting this region is critical to combating climate change and plays a vital role in supporting the Indigenous and riverside communities. By focusing our efforts here, we can help safeguard the Amazon’s delicate ecosystems while also supporting the people who rely on them.
TP’s work in Brazil began by reforesting the Amazon in 2022 with 3,000 seedlings, reviving 9 hectares of forest. In 2024, TP Amazônia delivered even more impact. 4,000 fruit tree seedlings were planted throughout Indigenous and riverside communities in the Amazon region, benefitting more than 2,000 people. The project resulted in:
- Forest and biodiversity recovery, while boosting education after the building three libraries for local communities.
- More income by creating green jobs
- Raised ecological awareness among the local population
- Financial and food security after the creation of nurseries of fruit species close to community backyards
- Improved local economy as a result of planting of seedlings and the sale of wood products and fruits
TP believes in the power of collective impact. Through initiatives like TP Amazônia, we are making a powerful difference and taking a great step toward a better and fairer world for all.
