Setting the Highest Standards in Inclusion and Gender Empowerment

Alan Winters - 06.13.2024

Pride Month is celebrated in June, but at TP, we celebrate it every day. We strive to create safe spaces for our LGBTQIA+ community, ensuring that we amplify their voices and cultivate a workplace culture that thrives in equality, respect, and inclusion.

As we look forward to Pride 2024, we are excited to share last year’s Pride Month initiatives globally as well as achievements that recognized our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).

TP in Colombia

Pride

All year round, TP has been spreading its DE&I initiatives wider in Colombia, reaching different communities. The teams in Colombia have designed a DE&I strategy that aims to answer the needs and expectations of people in local communities. For our efforts, we’re the first company in Latin America to receive the ISO 30415 certification from AENOR, an international certifier. The certification, covering both Colombia and Peru, validates our good DE&I practices at all sites in both countries. Implementing a strong DE&I management system allowed us to receive the certification.

Currently, TP has been certified “Friendly Biz Organization” in Colombia. Directed by Felipe Cárdenas, a pioneer in setting and creating DE&I standards and recognized by his leadership in diversity and LGBTIQ+ chambers of different countries, TP continues to set the path in spreading awareness and gender equality initiatives in various communities. TP in Brazil

In Brazil, we celebrate Happy Day-Pride monthly, fostering a prejudice-free work environment and recognizing outstanding contributors.

Happy Day-Pride is a day that celebrates our diversity and inclusion, and for employees to show the joy of being part of a welcoming and prejudice-free family.

Taking place monthly, employees post photos on their social media tagging TP. We recognize the most engaged individuals and operations with trophies and gift cards.

Starting June 11, TP in Brazil will share employee testimonials with the theme “I’m proud of myself and my history.” Our São Paulo site will also have a joint initiative called “Rainbow Container.” Collaborating with companies from the Brazil headquarters condominium, the initiative features a fleet of rainbow-painted containers that will be seen across DE&I events around the world. The containers have previously appeared in Pride events and parades.

TP in Italy

Employees attended "LGBTQI+ Inclusion: Why is it important to talk about it in the workplace?", a webinar organized by the Italian Association Parks Liberi and Uguali, of which TP is a member. The managing director gave teams in Italy advice on how to increasingly strengthen the path of inclusion through our behaviors and our language.

The teams in Italy are organizing another webinar with the managing director of Parks, an employers' association of which we are also a member. The webinar will reflect on why emotional and sexual orientation and gender identity must be part of our inclusion path. It will be an interactive session that will feature employees’ testimonies.

TP in the Philippines

In the Philippines, TP is one of the leading voices for LGBTQ+ rights, diversity, equity, and inclusion. During the 2023 Pride Festival, TP mobilized over 1,500 employees, friends, and family to participate in Pride Marches across four cities across the country. More importantly, TP Pride Chair Vince Josue also publicly expressed support to the SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression) Equality Bill and other LGBTQ+ advocacies.

TP Pride has played a key role in educating global TP teams on the advocacy and issues affecting the LGBTQIA+ community. In the Philippines, TP Pride has over 1,000 members. It commands the active participation of 41% of the executive leadership. TP Pride is proud to be recognized by the Philippine Financial and Inter Industry Pride (PFIP), winning the prestigious Pride Network of the Year for 2023.

TP continues to set the highest standards in raising consciousness and gender sensitivity in the Philippines. To spread gender equality and advocacy, TP has trained 16 instructors—four of which are fully certified by the Philippine Financial and Inter-Industry Pride (PFIP), with 12 undergoing on-the-job training. PFIP is a non-profit community of practice composed of dedicated representatives from LGBTQ+ employee resource groups, HR, or diversity teams of private firms in the Philippines.

Furthermore, its “TP4All” initiative has influenced hiring practices to be more inclusive of LGBTQ+ employees. Its “Use of Chosen Name” policy has also been used by 181 employees since 2022, allowing them to use their preferred names.

May we always be inspired to embrace our true selves proudly, be bold and stand tall against discrimination, and celebrate our differences. Happy Pride! May we continue fighting the good fight against all forms of discrimination and spread love and respect everywhere we go. Together, we are truly stronger!
