Aries Susanti: Celebrating Diversity, Inclusion, and Equality through a Worldwide Sports Event

TP - 09.04.2024

Sports play a crucial role in promoting gender equality. As advocates for women's empowerment, TP continues to champion diversity and equality through TP Women. Together, we’re united in addressing the challenges faced by women and driving a positive impact in and out of the workplace.

As we take great strides in promoting gender equality, TP Women believes it’s essential to support and celebrate women's contributions to sports. By doing so, we honor their achievements and pave the way for a more inclusive and empowering future for all women. Let’s hear from sport-climbing athlete Aries Susanti, who strives to break barriers to attain gender equality.

Hello, I’m Aries Susanti, a sport-climbing athlete from Indonesia. In my career, I’ve had the privilege of participating in numerous international competitions, breaking records, and witnessing firsthand the incredible evolution of women in sports. With this year’s worldwide sports event now showcasing many sports and emphasizing gender equality, it's a thrilling time to be an athlete.

The Addition of New Sports

The introduction of skateboarding, surfing, and sport climbing (my personal favorite) in previous years brought a fresh, youthful energy to the competition.

The inclusion of new sports in this year’s worldwide sports event—such as breaking and kayak cross—reflects the evolving interests and capabilities of athletes worldwide. My utmost appreciation goes to the organizers for their hard work! I especially appreciate the addition of these events and the new format in sport climbing.

As a speed climber, this inclusion represents a significant milestone for climbers worldwide, offering us a global platform to showcase our skills and compete at the highest level. The anticipation and excitement surrounding this debut were truly inspiring among athletes and fans. I hope there will be an addition of team speed climbing next time!

Promoting Diversity, Inclusion, and Gender Equality

This year’s worldwide sports event serves as a powerful platform to showcase diversity, promote gender equality, and celebrate athletes—no matter where they are from, the color of their skin, or the language they speak. This is the pinnacle of human achievement as equals and embodies the right of every human to compete.

By continuing to push boundaries and break barriers, we can ensure that the worldwide sports event signifies hope and inspiration for athletes worldwide. It’s also inspiring to see stereotypes shattered: in traditionally male-dominated sports like wrestling, boxing, and weightlifting, women are challenging stereotypes and breaking barriers. These athletes demonstrate that strength, resilience, and determination are not gender-specific traits. Their victories are celebrated globally, fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect in sports.

Empowered women athletes often become advocates for broader social issues, including education, health, and women's rights. Their platforms allow them to influence public opinion and drive change, benefiting the sports community and society.

The progress we've made in gender equality and the inclusion of new sports in this year’s worldwide sports event is truly inspiring. As a female athlete, I'm immensely proud of these achievements and excited for the future.

For those of you looking to explore more about the impact of sports and gender equality, I encourage you to stay engaged, ask questions, and support initiatives that promote inclusivity and gender equality in sports. Together, we can create a more equitable and empowering environment for future generations of athletes!
