Striving for a Better World: CSR Highlights

Clémentine Gauthier - 03.25.2021

2020 was a year marked with extreme challenges that dramatically changed the way we live our lives. As the world continues to rebuild after a global pandemic impacted families and communities, the Teleperformance teams remain steadfast in helping and supporting those in need. For Teleperformance, the power of generosity was stronger than ever with our employees all over the world united in creating a positive difference, especially at a time of uncertainty.

We believe that we are all capable in making a difference in the world we live in, and whatever we can share—no matter how big, no matter how small—can go a long way in helping communities rebuild, and have hope. Our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Citizen of the World (COTW) and Citizen of the Planet (COTP), are all about giving back where we live and driving change and awareness in making our world a better place for all.

Last year, Teleperformance focused on supporting local communities impacted by COVID-19 and supporting education for the most vulnerable children. With our global footprint reaching 83 countries and powered by 380,000+ employees, Teleperformance amassed 5.1 million Euros in total cash and in-kind donations to help local underprivileged children and their families in 2020. Furthermore, we were able to donate more than 960 computers and 210 smartphones to impoverished schools. Our employees worldwide were able to log 80,000 volunteer hours. Together with our employees’ efforts and generosity, we estimate that up to 183,154 lives were impacted by our food donations. Our COTW initiatives that aimed to support children and infants impacted 114,122 lives.

Teleperformance is focused on making the world a better place by actively reducing electricity consumption, as well as reducing our carbon footprint. As our COTP initiatives continue to educate our employees on how to practice sustainability in their daily lives, we are seeing positive environmental changes as a result: in 2020, electricity consumption per employee decreased by 16% yoy (from 1292 kWh to 1080 kWh). The Group’s carbon footprint in absolute terms, including all sources of emissions tracked to date (fuel, electricity, paper, air travel) was 161,699 tons in 2020, down 23.7% from 211,867 tons in 2019. The carbon footprint per employee decreased by 27.5% between 2019 and 2020, from 0.682 to 0.495 tons CO2 equivalent.

Our employees recognize the value of working with a company that is committed to giving back. It’s more than just a job; for us, sharing what we have is priceless. And because of our commitment to create a positive impact, we are proud to be Great Place to Work-certified in 28 countries: Albania, Argentina, Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Germany WAHA, Greece, India, Indonesia, Kosovo, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Tunisia, UK, United Arab Emirates, and USA.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our employees who have volunteered in our COTW and COTP activities, events, and programs in 2020! Your generosity and selflessness continue to go a long way. Teleperformance is grateful to each and everyone of you. With this, here’s to another year of igniting our passion to make a difference through our COTW and COTP initiatives! We look forward to seeing you all in our next COTW or COTP event.
